I know what the speed of light is... what's the speed of dark?
No pressure, no diamonds.

For Windows 98, ME, 2000, NT, XP, Vista and Windows 7.

Windows' facility for supporting TrueType fonts isn't really matched by its facilities for managing them. While few Windows users will have trouble keeping track of the few dozen typefaces that come with Windows, there are innumerable sources of much more interesting fonts.

If you install several hundred fonts in Windows, you'll probably find that keeping track of them using nothing more than the font management tools in the Windows control panel will become taxing at best. Simply installing new fonts is analogous to juggling live polecats in a dark room after midnight. Remembering what all your installed fonts look like is still more adventurous.

Font Wrangler is the font manager that should have come with Windows. It will allow you to install and remove TrueType fonts in batches; preview fonts before you install them; browse downloaded font files; view font copyright information; change the names of fonts to resolve naming conflicts and print font "contact sheets." Its intuitive user interface can be mastered by most potted plants and some elected officials.

This software is available for electronic delivery and on CD-ROM.

The more people I meet, the more I like my dog.

  • Install and remove TrueType fonts with a visual, intuitive user interface.
  • Browse downloaded fonts so you can decide which ones you'd like to keep.
  • Weed your downloaded font collection to rename or delete selected files.
  • Print a "contact sheet" of fonts so you'll have a paper reference of your downloaded and installed fonts.
  • Change the font names of TrueType fonts to make them more easily remembered and to resolve typeface name conflicts.

FINE PRINT

Font Wrangler can be registered either as bookware or as conventional shareware. Should you be unfamiliar with the former, here's the rub.

The bookware registration fee for Font Wrangler is to buy and read Steven William Rimmer's novel Eye of the Dawn. Eye of the Dawn is available at selected bookshops, and directly through Alchemy Mindworks. A bookware registration of Font Wrangler will get you a fully functional copy of the software. Please note, however:

Alchemy Mindworks' user database does not keep track of book orders. As such, if you have cause to re-install a bookware copy of this software in the future — because you change computers, for example, or because you reformat your hard drive — you will need the book. We cannot provide replacement bookware codes for this application under any circumstances, even if you claim that the spirit of King Tut Ankh Amon borrowed the book and you have video of the event to prove it. Don't ask. Be sure to hang onto your copy of Eye of the Dawn, and all will be well.

Because in registering this application as bookware you're really just buying a book, you will not be e-mailed a registration code for Font Wrangler when we confirm your order. You'll need to wait for the book to arrive to register your software.

Registering this version of Font Wrangler as bookware will entitle you to download any additional releases and patches in the 2.0 series at no cost. The bookware version will not be upgradable to future major releases, should we substantially expand Font Wrangler one day. For practical purposes, this probably isn't something you need to be greatly concerned about.

Alternately — should you not wish to read the book — you can register Font Wrangler as conventional shareware for $24.99 (US) — plus applicable shipping if you'd like a copy sent to you on CD-ROM.

Should you lose your registration code for Font Wrangler at some time in the future, or need to reinstall it, you will be able to request a replacement code through the Lost Registration Code Robot at our web page. If King Tut shows up to swipe your books, he may deplete your library, but he won't affect your use of Font Wrangler.

You will receive a registration code for Font Wrangler when we confirm your order by e-mail, enabling you to register a downloaded copy of the application immediately.

Should we release a more powerful version of Font Wrangler in the future, you will be able to upgrade to it at no cost or at a reduced price. Note, however, that we do not have plans to do so as of this writing.
