Announcing Pagan Daybook 5 _______________________________________________________________________ Pagan Daybook 5 has been released. We've refined the internal architecture of Pagan Daybook to make it faster, more memory-efficient and better able to take advantage of the functionality of Windows 7 and Windows 8. While most of the seriously cool changes embodied in Pagan Daybook 5 are "under the hood," users of the latest release will find that it's noticeable quicker, especially for functions that call for significant system resources. The updated architecture will also allow us to add new features to Pagan Daybook that were impractical or genuinely impossible under version 4. ........................................................................ WHAT'S NEW This release features some visible changes as well: - Adds a Preview button to the Theme editor. When you click on Preview, your current theme will be applied to the main Pagan Daybook window, so you can see what your proposed selection or the theme you're creating looks like in real life. By default, the Preview button will also determine the longest observance text based on your current typographic choices, so you can make sure none of the observances will exceed the available space in Pagan Daybook's main window if you're creating a theme with a font other than Arial. We've been trying to figure out how to implement this under version 4 for years. - Speeds up the background rendering engine and improves its final appearance. - Refines a number of user interface issues. - Improves the color management for animations. - Updates a number of text and graphic elements in the observance database. - Pagan Daybook requires less memory to run, which will make it and anything else running under Windows quite a bit speedier, especially on systems with limited system resources. Please see the discussion of version 5 enhancements at: http://www.mindworkshop.info/gif-construction-set/v5-upgrades/ You can download Pagan Daybook 5 from: http://www.mindworkshop.com/pagan.html#download ........................................................................ Announcing Animation Workshop 5 (Second Notification) _______________________________________________________________________ Animation Workshop 5 has been released. We've refined the internal architecture of Animation Workshop to make it faster, more memory-efficient and better able to take advantage of the functionality of Windows 7 and Windows 8. While most of the seriously cool changes embodied in Animation Workshop 5 are "under the hood," users of the latest release will find that it's noticeable quicker, especially for functions that call for significant system resources. The updated architecture will also allow us to add new features to Animation Workshop that were impractical or genuinely impossible under version 4. ........................................................................ WHAT'S NEW This release features some visible changes as well: - Adds Shape objects - include a variety of geometric shapes such as hexagons, stars, sunbursts, arrows and many others in your animations, without any recourse to a paint application or any detectable drawing skills. Shape objects support a rich palette of material fills, and professional soft shadows. See the Bob's House of Saxophones banner in the Animation Workshop tutorial for an example of Shape objects at work... if you can call this work. - Enhances the object editors, with better object parameter retention between sessions. - Speeds up the rendering engine and improves its final appearance. - Refines a number of user interface issues. - Improves the color management for exporting to GIF animations. - Animation Workshop requires less memory to run, which will make it and anything else running under Windows quite a bit speedier, especially on systems with limited system resources. Please see the discussion of version 5 enhancements at: http://www.mindworkshop.info/gif-construction-set/v5-upgrades/ You can download Animation Workshop 5 from: http://www.mindworkshop.com/animwork.html#download ........................................................................ Graphic Workshop Professional 5 Revision 2 (Additional Notification) _______________________________________________________________________ Graphic Workshop Professional 5 has been updated. This release: - Adds a Find in Browser feature. Select Find In Browser from the right-click menu of a Graphic Workshop browser window and you'll be looking at a field to enter a search key. Quickly locate and step through each file in your current browser that matches your key. This is first of the (entirely too many) features we wanted to implement under the version 4 architecture, and couldn't. - Adds a new filter to the Filter window in View mode. Check out Light Box. It turns digital photographs into eyecatching color halftones. - Fixes a number of minor issues with the initial build of e-Paint UltraLight - 'specially the ones that made the tool palette lose its mind under some builds of Windows. - Addresses an number of user interface and run-time issues in Graphic Workshop itself... mostly having to do with the step up to version 5. - Improves the Properties window in the crop function. - Improves the GWS Camera screen capture to allow it to snag a variety of unconventional windows that used to fox it. - Fixes a minor bug in the Halftone filter. - Fixes a bug in the toggled zoom feature of the View window. - Updates the documentation. - Implements our work-around for the Microsoft installer limitation that hitherto required each previous release of Graphic Workshop to be uninstalled before an update could be installed. This release of Graphic Workshop Professional 5 can be installed right over the previous one - it will in fact automatically uninstall the previous software as part of the install. While we're just tickled with how well this worked in house, we are aware that some third-party install managers and security applications meddle with the software installation process, and in so doing might break our clever innovation. If you encounter any issues with installing this release of Graphic Workshop, please let us know what happened. We hasten to add that you'll still need to click on the Enter Your Registration Key button in the opening window of the newly updated Graphic Workshop Professional 5 to handle validating it. Assuming that you allowed Graphic Workshop to save your key to disk last time, this will involve clicking on Next several times and then closing the "thank you" window.
