Pagan Daybook 5 Revision 4 _______________________________________________________________________ Pagan Daybook 5 has been updated. This release: - Adds full-window graphics to the theme background options, and several new themes that use them. These are highly cool. To try the new themes, right-click in the Pagan Daybook window, select Theme from the menu that appears and choose any of the following themes from the Theme window list: - Clouds at Morning - Earth and Sky - Hylas and the Nymphs - Lady of Shallot - Morning Forest Needless to say, you can also create your own themes with this feature. See the discussion of Graphic backgrounds in the section of the Reference document of the Manual that deals with Material Buttons. - Updates the Theme window and fixes a memory leak... ooops. - Adds a random mode selection option for the screen saver. - Updates the observance database. - Fixes a problem which prevented the File Open and Save As windows in Pagan Daybook from correctly setting the keyboard focus in the file name field. Users who like to open one of these windows and type blindly into them have found this a bit irksome... and this included a few of us. - Improves the performance of the Calendar window. - Addresses a potential security issue. We seriously urge all users of Pagan Daybook to update to this release. - Addresses a number of GDI and performance issues that software developers never really stop meddling with. - Updates the documentation. If you're still using Pagan Daybook 4, we invite you to upgrade to the current software and enjoy all the new and enhanced functionality it offers. As of this writing, upgrades to Pagan Daybook 5 are still available for half the single-user registration cost - $14.99. Please visit http://www.mindworkshop.com/upgrade.html to upgrade. _______________________________________________________________________ 2. The Ultimate Screen Clock 5 Revision 6 (Second Notification) _______________________________________________________________________ The Ultimate Screen Clock 5 has been updated. This release: - Adds several new clock styles. You and your immediate descendants will never forgive you if you fail to experience Steampunk - analog and digital - and Bronze Age. We hasten to add that the Steampunk clock styles have a particularly cool screen saver background as well. - Adds directives to the clock definition language to allow for the individual placement of each digit and character in a digital clock style - as will be evident in the aforementioned Steampunk Digital style. - Updates the saverbackstyle directive of the clock definition language, allowing it to accept file name wild cards. If you include wild cards in this field and you allow the screen saver background to be defined by the current saver style, The Ultimate Screen Clock's screen saver logic will randomly select a different background every time the screen blanks. The new Bronze Age styles, mentioned earlier in this post, use this feature. You can configure any of the other clock styles included with The Ultimate Screen Clock to behave this way by creating overrides for them to set the saverbackstyle field to "*.jpg" - there's a discussion of overrides in The Ultimate Screen Clock's Manual. - Fine-tunes a number of metrics issues in the clock rendering engine. - Enhances the memory management in the custom clock style libraries to allow them to operate using fewer system resources. - Addresses some minor user interface issues in the Alarm Clock window. - Fixes a problem which prevented the File Open and Save As windows in The Ultimate Screen Clock from correctly setting the keyboard focus in the file name field. Users who like to open one of these windows and type blindly into them have found this a bit irksome... and this included a few of us. - Addresses a potential security issue. We seriously urge all users of The Ultimate Screen Clock to update to this release. - Updates the documentation. You can download The Ultimate Screen Clock 5 from: http://www.mindworkshop.com/clock.html#download ........................................................................ UPGRADES If you're still using The Ultimate Screen Clock 4, we invite you to upgrade to the current software and enjoy all the new clock styles and enhanced functionality it offers. As of this writing, upgrades to The Ultimate Screen Clock 5 are still available for half the single-user registration cost - $12.49. Please visit http://www.mindworkshop.com/upgrade.html to upgrade. _______________________________________________________________________ 3. Graphic Workshop Professional 5 Revision 8 (Additional Notification) _______________________________________________________________________ Graphic Workshop Professional 5 has been updated. This release: - Updates the logic underlying the recent folder panes that appeared in the Destination and Move and Copy windows in the previous release, to make them considerably quicker. - Adds a recent folder pane to the Search window, so you can quickly return to your frequently used destinations without having to manually navigate to them. We hasten to add that you can change the number of recent folders in Setup, or disable this feature entirely if you decide that you'd rather keep your mouse guessing. See the discussion of the Search function in the Reference document of Graphic Workshop's manual for more about this option. - Improves a number of aspects of the Search window and its user- interface elements. - Fixes a problem which prevented the Open and Save As windows in Graphic Workshop and its ancillary applications from correctly setting the keyboard focus in the file name field. Users who like to open one of these windows and type blindly into them have found this a bit irksome... and this included a few of us. - Nails what we're pretty sure are the last of the weird-beard graphic types that can turn up in Resource Extractor. It handles them all correctly now. - Correctly supports a peculiar circa-1992 format variation of BMP files. Not that there are a lot of them still around, but Graphic Workshop will open the beasts if you bump into one. - Adds a new screen to the installer to make the creation of desktop shortcuts for Graphic Workshop and its ancillary applications optional. We were surprised to find that the previous release, which for the first time created shortcuts for all the applications in the Graphic Workshop suite, made a number of users of this software suspect it was installing stuff it wasn't supposed to. In fact, it was installing what it had always installed - it was just making all the software easier to find. We hasten to add that the desktop shortcuts screen of the Graphic Workshop installer will remember which shortcuts you select. The next time you install an update to Graphic Workshop, you'll be able to skip past it. - Improves the plugin interface logic. This should reduce the time Graphic Workshop requires to boot up by several seconds if you have a full bucket of its plugins installed. - Addresses a number of GDI and performance issues that software developers never really stop meddling with. - Updates the documentation. Please visit: http://www.mindworkshop.com/gwspro.html#download to download Graphic Workshop Professional 5. ........................................................................ If you're still using Graphic Workshop 4, we invite you to upgrade to the current software and enjoy all the new and enhanced functionality it offers. As of this writing, upgrades to Graphic Workshop 5 are still available for half the single-user registration cost - $22.49. The security "chain" of our certificate became broken, with the result that many visitors to our e-commerce page were greeted not by an offer of free shipping and a photograph of a smiling staff member wearing a telephone headset, but rather by an ominous warning about our page being untrusted. Regrettably, this issue only beset some web browsers and configurations thereof. It didn't affect the ones we use in house to check our pages, and as such it was well over a week before we became aware of it. The problem has now been fixed, and our e-commerce page is once again at peace with the universe... and it's not about to suggest otherwise. We hasten to add that it was never genuinely untrusted or insecure... it was just slightly confused. In the event that you attempted to access our e-commerce page during its brush with cybernetic oblivion, please accept our apology for the problem. To order any of our products on line, please visit: https://www.mindworkshop.com/orderform.html No frightening messages will ensue. _______________________________________________________________________ 5.
