You are what THEY eat, too. http://www.stevenwilliamrimmer.com/lizardland.html _______________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________ 1. Graphic Workshop Professional 7 Revision 4 _______________________________________________________________________ Graphic Workshop Professional 7 has been updated. This release: - Adds a Paint function to the View mode window - edit your pictures directly from View, without saving them to disk. Select Paint from the Picture menu, or hold down the Shift key and click on the paintbrush button. - Improves the Adjust window, adds a Reset button and fixes a few... ahem... "bugs" has such a negative connotation. Perhaps they're just "alternate program features." - Changes the color quantization logic, this being the mind-numbingly complex process by which optimum palettes are derived for reducing true-color graphics to paletted images... this being GIF files, for the most part. This has resulted in a noticeable speed improvement in some of the Effects features. - Speeds up a number of features of the View window. - Updates several View mode filters. - Updates several of the drawing tools in e-Paint UltraLight. - Addresses several minor issues in GWS Camera. - Addresses a number of user interface issues. - Addresses a number of GDI and performance issues that software developers never really stop meddling with. - Updates the documentation. We'd like to urge all the users of Graphic Workshop Professional 7 to download and install this update... doubly so if you're running Windows 10. You can Graphic Workshop Professional 7 from: http://www.mindworkshop.com/gwspro.html#download ........................................................................ UPGRADES As of this writing, if you're running Graphic Workshop 5 or 6, you can upgrade to Graphic Workshop Professional 7 for half the cost of a new single-user license. Please visit: http://www.mindworkshop.com/upgrade.html to upgrade. _______________________________________________________________________ 2. The Ultimate Screen Clock 7 Revision 2 (Second Notification) _______________________________________________________________________ The Ultimate Screen Clock 7 has been updated. This release: - Adds a new style - Empire is dark, sophisticated and while we could say "timeless," it'd be a contradiction in terms. It's available in two sizes. - Adds a recently-used items list to the right-click menu in the Select Style window, to quickly re-use your recent clock style selections. See the discussion of this feature in the section of the Reference document that deals with Styles. - Adds a Wait notification to the Select Styles window, so it doesn't appear to have gone into vapor lock when it's loading the by now somewhat extensive canon of clock styles. This issue was more pronounced if you tried to select a new Timer style, as this version of the Select Style window can take twenty or thirty seconds to open on a slow or busy computer. - Improves the clock rendering engine, 'coz that's just something that never really ends. - Addresses several minor issues in the Days Until window. - Addresses a number of issues that crept into the first release of The Ultimate Screen Clock 7... as software is wont to do. - Modifies the registration logic to work around Windows 10's recent updates, which have been randomly de-registering software when they sneak silently onto your computer. The sudden appearance of the "this key is already registered" message should be a distant memory. - Updates UpToDate. - Addresses a number of user interface issues. - Addresses a number of GDI and performance issues that software developers never really stop meddling with. - Updates the documentation. You can download The Ultimate Screen Clock 7 from: http://www.mindworkshop.com/clock.html#download ........................................................................ UPGRADES If you have previously registered or upgraded to The Ultimate Screen Clock 6, you can upgrade to The Ultimate Screen Clock 7 for half the cost of a new single-user license. Please see: http://www.mindworkshop.com/upgrade.html to upgrade. _______________________________________________________________________ 3. A Farewell to Spinning Rust (Second Notification) _______________________________________________________________________ This posting was composed on a computer without a hard drive. Several weeks ago, we replaced the traditional electro-mechanical hard drives in most of the computers at Alchemy Mindworks with SSDs - solid state drives. Aside from enhancing the reliability of the systems into which these devices are bolted - at least in theory - SSDs are way quicker than their spinning ancestors, and so too are the machines that host them. It's like buying a way faster computer, without most of the attendant credit card abuse. Here's the complete tale of our transition to rustless mass storage: www.stormgods.com/electronics/samsung-ssd-850-evo-solid-state-drive/ _______________________________________________________________________ 4.
