Pagan Daybook 8 Revision 3
Pagan Daybook 8 has been updated. This release:
* Updates the PNG functionality.
PNG and JPEG security, the next item in this section, can affect
graphics used as theme backgrounds, tiles and Personal Days
illustrations.
Our ongoing review of the security of the various libraries used
by e-Paint revealed that its PNG reader and writer could have
been subject to several serious vulnerabilities, including
CVE-2016-3751, CVE-2015-8540 and CVE-2015-8472. These issues
could potentially allow a maliciously-crafted PNG graphic to
execute arbitrary code on the computer opening it.
We'd like to urge all users of Pagan Daybookto update to this
release ASAP.

* Addresses several security issues in the JPEG library used by
Pagan Daybook.
It's our understanding that the previous version of the JPEG
library used by Pagan Daybookcould have allowed a
maliciously-crafted JPEG graphic to execute arbitrary code on a
host computer.
The world includes some really scary people.
Pagan Daybook has been rebuilt using the latest - and wholly
secure - JPEG functionality.
* We've also updated the JPEG reader to be aware of the presence
of EXIF metadata in the JPEG files it reads and adjust the
orientation of the resulting pictures if they were taken with a
camera held in something other than the traditional landscape
position.
* Nails a bug in the time difference logic that underlies the Days
Until, Days Since and Days Between windows, and addresses
potential errors of one day in their calculations, albeit only
for fairly lengthy periods of time in certain weird
permutations. They're bugs... they deserve to die.
* Updates the observance database.
* Adds assistance buttons to the initial registration key windows.

* Updates the Credits window in Help → About. While every bit as
exciting as watching bricks sleep, the Credits window includes
information which is helpful in resolving support issues. The
updated window is both easier to read and find things in, and it
has allowed us to add more information to assist us in
addressing user questions.
* Updates UpToDate, which installs with Pagan Daybook. The new
UpToDate features an expanded Alert window with larger, more
easily-read type and a user-configurable font, just in case
you'd like it larger still. It will also display
content-specific graphics.
* Addresses a number of GDI and performance issues that software
developers never really stop meddling with.
* Updates the documentation.

e-Paint 8 has been updated. This release:
* Updates the PNG functionality.

PNG format variations... and there are a lot of them.
* Fixes a bug in the polygon tool that could cause objects to be
drawn slightly offset to the left in some circumstances, under
some builds of Windows, in proximity to a large penguin or other
flightless aquatic bird.

Graphic Workshop Professional 8 Revision 8

Graphic Workshop Professional 8 has been updated. This release:
* Fixes a bug in the shiny new PNG reader. Well this is
embarrassing...
The new PNG functionality in Graphic Workshop was creating
graphics with erroneous color depths when it was asked to read
alpha-channel PNG files in some circumstances, which could then
not be written to other formats. A "too many colors" error was
returned. This release fixes the problem.
* Adds audible alerts to several additional functions around
Graphic Workshop, most notably Save in View mode.
* Suppresses the creation of thumbnails when saving to the Windows
clipboard.
* Addresses a number of GDI and performance issues that software
developers never really stop meddling with.
* Updates the documentation.
