This release: * Addresses a number of issues with the Save and Open *Browser Tabs* functionality. This update also improves the speed with which large groups of browser tabs can be opened. * Updates the *PNG readers and writers* in Graphic Workshop and its ancillary applications to address some security issues. We strongly urge all users of Graphic Workshop to update to this version to close these potential security holes. * Improves the *Crop* optimized view mode image quality. * Improves the *thumbnail* memory management, which will allow for faster thumbnail displays, especially on systems with limited resources or lots of other software running. * Fixes a bug in the file save logic of *Icon Editor UltraLight* that could cause it to spuriously prompt for a file name. * Fixes a potential crash in the *GWS Camera* screen capture. * Addresses a number of user interface issues in *Presentation Wizard UltraLight*... and updates its example document. * Improves the color matching logic in *GIF Construction Set UltraLight's* Animation Wizard. * Addresses a number of GDI and performance issues that software developers never really stop meddling with. Upgrades If you have registered or upgraded a registration for Graphic Workshop Professional 8, we invite you to upgrade to Graphic Workshop Professional 9 for *half the current new-user price*. Click on the blue button below to visit the upgrade page. Announcing Calendar Wizard 9(second notification) Calendar Wizard 9 has been released. We've further refined its architecture to make it more memory-efficient, and to better utilize the resources available under Windows 10. (We hasten to add that it still performs admirably under earlier builds of Windows, all the way back to Windows XP, if you're feeling retro.) Among the new features and enhancements to Calendar Wizard9, you'll find that it: * Adds a feature to print folding wallet calendars, like the one to your right. Sized to fit conveniently into a wallet ? the name does kind of give it away ? Calendar Wizard's wallet calendars can be customized with your choice of colors, fonts and special days. Select Print Wallet Calendar from the File menu.** * Updates all the *image import* libraries to improve their performance and to deal with more weird-beard PNG and JPG files. They're out there, lurking... * Fixes a bug that could crash Calendar Wizard and render select .CLN files unreadable under some builds of Windows if one or more pictures were deleted. * Traps wayward mouse clicks that could open the month editing window if a file was opened by double-clicking in the Open window... again, under some builds of Windows if you happened to watch last week's blood moon in proximity to a large dog. * Improves the logic for the Calendar Wizard application status bar so Calendar Wizard9doesn't go into vapor lock during long processes. * Adjusts the *memory footprint* of Calendar Wizard9. This allows it to better get along with Windows' memory management logic, load a bit quicker and run more effectively and reliably, especially if it finds itself on a system that's a bit short of memory. * Enhances the sneakiness of the *validation logic* to further reduce the likelihood of Calendar Wizard9un-registering itself and thereafter deciding that its key is already in use because Windows 10 has silently updated something. Hopefully this one nails the problem until the end of time. * Addresses a number of GDI and performance issues that software developers never really stop meddling with. * Updates the documentation. As in years past, when you run Calendar Wizard 9 for the first time, it will look for a previous installation of Calendar Wizard 8 and optionally *copy your existing configuration*, so you won't have to set everything up by hand. Click on the blue button to download Calendar Wizard9. Upgrades If you have registered or upgraded a registration for Calendar Wizard8 on or after June 1, 2018, you're welcome to a *no-cost upgrade* to Calendar Wizard9. If you have registered or upgraded a registration for Calendar Wizard8 prior to June 1, 2018, we invite you to upgrade to Calendar Wizard9 for *half the current new-user price*. The first time you run Calendar Wizard9, it will determine which upgrade option applies to your license. Click on the blue button below to visit the upgrade page. You can access the no-cost upgrade page directly by clicking on the foregoing link. Alpha Paint + Icon Editor 9 Revision 5 (additional notification) Alpha Paint 9 has been updated. This release: * Adds*interactive resizing* ? select an area of a picture open in Alpha Paint using the Rectangle Section tool, and you can grab and drag the edges of the selection marquee to resize it. While most of the interactive resize tools we've encountered have done some serious damage to the images they were confronted with over multiple adjustments, the one in Alpha Paint is diabolically sneaky, and does a superb job of maintaining the quality of resized image fragments. * Updates all the *image import* libraries to improve their performance and to deal with more weird-beard PNG and JPG files. They're out there, lurking... * Addresses a number of minor issues in the settings pane. * Improves the drawing engine's performance. * Improves support for weird and genuinely incorrectly-formed ICO files. * Addresses a number of GDI and performance issues that software developers never really stop meddling with. * Updates the documentation. __________________________________________________________ *From the first release posting:* Alpha Paint is a sophisticated Windows paint application to draw and manage graphics with full alpha transparency. It will create: * Professional web page images * Eye-catching effects for social media * Killer graphics for PowerPoint presentations * Titles for videos ...and pretty much anything else that requires leading-edge art and transparency. In addition, it can create and edit Windows icons. Alpha Paint is intuitive, easy to use and it won't require that you get involved with complicated mathematics, higher-order spatial dimensions or a manual that requires more than one human lifetime to read. Anyone with sufficient eye-hand coordination to successfully operate a web browser should be able to master Alpha Paint in under an hour. We invite you to download an evaluation copy of Alpha Paint and try it out. Click on the huge blue button. Announcing Dragonsbane by Steven William Rimmer We'd like to thank everyone who's e-mailed over the past few years to ask when there would be a new novel by Steven William Rimmer. It's here, and it's available in e-book and paperback editions through Amazon. Please click on the big blue button, below, to find out more about it. We've been instructed to mention that there are no actual dragons therein, in that dragons, while mythical and cool, don't really exist.
