Graphic Workshop Professional 9 Revision 6 (new this weekend)
Graphic Workshop Professional 9 has been updated. This release:
* There's always one more bug... but this one seems to be in
Windows. Under some builds of Windows, previous releases of
Graphic Workshop would open their Search windows if you tried to
edit a folder name and in so doing hit the backspace key. The
current update has been disabused of this behavior.
From last weekend's release:
* Addresses a number of issues with the Save and Open *Browser
Tabs* functionality. This update also improves the speed with
which large groups of browser tabs can be opened.
* Updates the *PNG readers and writers* in Graphic Workshop and
its ancillary applications to address some security issues. We
strongly urge all users of Graphic Workshop to update to this
version to close these potential security holes.
* Improves the *Crop* optimized view mode image quality.
* Improves the *thumbnail* memory management, which will allow for
faster thumbnail displays, especially on systems with limited
resources or lots of other software running.
* Fixes a bug in the file save logic of *Icon Editor UltraLight*
that could cause it to spuriously prompt for a file name.
* Fixes a potential crash in the *GWS Camera* screen capture.
* Addresses a number of user interface issues in *Presentation
Wizard UltraLight*... and updates its example document.
* Improves the color matching logic in *GIF Construction Set
UltraLight's* Animation Wizard.
* Addresses a number of GDI and performance issues that software
developers never really stop meddling with.

GIF Construction Set Professional 9 Revision 2
GIF Construction Set Professional 9 has been updated. This release:
* Adds several additional *Throbber* styles. Select Throbbers from
the Edit menu if you've thus far overlooked this feature.
Throbbers are the animations that appear when an on-line medium
is waiting for something to happen. GIF Construction Set creates
some truly unique ones... examples of which appear here.
* Addresses a number of minor issues in the *Throbbers* window.
* Fixes a number of... dare we say bugs... from the initial
version 9 release.
* Updates the *batch processor* to improve its performance and fix
a memory leak... albeit a somewhat theoretical one.
* Stomps a color management problem in the *Transitions* window —
it now creates somewhat better animations when it's confronted
with source images having a wide palette of colors.
* Updates the *PNG readers and writers* in GIF Construction Set
address some security issues. We strongly urge all users of GIF
Construction Set to update to this version to close these
potential security holes.
* Addresses a number of GDI and performance issues that software
developers never really stop meddling with.
* Updates the documentation.

Announcing Calendar Wizard 9(additional notification)
Calendar Wizard 9 has been released. We've further refined its
architecture to make it more memory-efficient, and to better utilize
the resources available under Windows 10. (We hasten to add that it
still performs admirably under earlier builds of Windows, all the
way back to Windows XP, if you're feeling retro.)
Among the new features and enhancements to Calendar Wizard 9, you'll
find that it:
* Adds a feature to print folding wallet calendars, like the one
to your right. Sized to fit conveniently into a wallet — the
name does kind of give it away — Calendar Wizard's wallet
calendars can be customized with your choice of colors, fonts
and special days. Select Print Wallet Calendar from the File menu.**
* Updates all the *image import* libraries to improve their
performance and to deal with more weird-beard PNG and JPG files.
They're out there, lurking...
* Fixes a bug that could crash Calendar Wizard and render select
.CLN files unreadable under some builds of Windows if one or
more pictures were deleted.
* Traps wayward mouse clicks that could open the month editing
window if a file was opened by double-clicking in the Open
window... again, under some builds of Windows if you happened to
watch last week's blood moon in proximity to a large dog.
* Improves the logic for the Calendar Wizard application status
bar so Calendar Wizard 9 doesn't go into vapor lock during long
processes.
* Adjusts the *memory footprint* of Calendar Wizard 9. This allows
it to better get along with Windows' memory management logic,
load a bit quicker and run more effectively and reliably,
especially if it finds itself on a system that's a bit short of
memory.
* Enhances the sneakiness of the *validation logic* to further
reduce the likelihood of Calendar Wizard 9 un-registering itself
and thereafter deciding that its key is already in use because
Windows 10 has silently updated something. Hopefully this one
nails the problem until the end of time.
* Addresses a number of GDI and performance issues that software
developers never really stop meddling with.
* Updates the documentation.
As in years past, when you run Calendar Wizard 9 for the first time,
it will look for a previous installation of Calendar Wizard 8 and
optionally *copy your existing configuration*, so you won't have to
set everything up by hand.
Click on the blue button to download Calendar Wizard 9.

Announcing Dragonsbane by
Steven William Rimmer (second notification)
<http://www.stevenwilliamrimmer.com/dragonsbane.html>
We'd like to thank everyone who's e-mailed over the past few years
to ask when there would be a new novel by Steven William Rimmer.
It's here, and it's available in e-book and paperback editions
through Amazon.
Please click on the big blue button, below, to find out more about it.
We've been instructed to mention that there are no actual dragons
therein, in that dragons, while mythical and cool, don't really exist.
