Graphic Workshop Professional 9 Revision 14 ***(new this weekend)***
Graphic Workshop Professional 9 has been updated. This release:
* Updates the *WebP support* for Graphic Workshop. Several format
issues in the initial release have been addressed, and the WebP
reader's performance has been improved for Graphic Workshop and
all the ancillary applications that support WebP.
* Updates Graphic Workshop so it will appear in the Windows
Explorer or File Explorer *Open With* window for most of the
file types it knows how to open.
* Adds a trap to*GWS Camera* to prevent multiple instances of the
screen capture from running concurrently... which was confusing.
* Fixes a bug that could cause the *Help* in the *Filters* and
*Textures* windows to fail to open under some builds of Windows
and with some web browsers.
* Improves the *Prompt for Filename* option of the GWS Camera
screen capture.
* Adds controls to the*e-Paint UltraLight* and *Montage
UltraLight* Save As Windows to allow the WebP and JPEG write
parameters to be adjusted when you save a document.
* Updates the documentation.
* Addresses a number of GDI and performance issues that software
developers never really stop meddling with.

Alpha Paint + Icon Editor 9 Revision 8 ***(second notification)***
Alpha Paint 9 has been updated. This release:
* Adds WebP support — create, open and edit leading-edge WebP web
page graphics.
The WebP format was developed by Google. Supported by the
current versions of all the major web browsers, it replaces PNG
and JPEG with a twenty-first century graphics standard. It
allows for true-color imaging, alpha transparency and optional
lossy compression for those occasions when you really need your
graphic files to be smaller.
Best of all, WebP graphics can be added to a web page using the
same HTML coding as would be the case for a JPG file.

* Fixes a bug that caused Alpha Paint to misbehave when it was
called from another application under some builds of Windows.
This resolves the issue of it failing to open when it was
summoned by holding down the Ctrl key and using the Paint
functions of Graphic Workshop and PNG MNG Construction Set.
* Addresses several more of minor issues in the settings pane.
* Improves the drawing engine's performance.
* Addresses a number of GDI and performance issues that software
developers never really stop meddling with.
* Updates the documentation.

PNG MNG Construction Set 9 Revision 4***(additional notification)***
PNG MNG Construction Set 9 has been updated. This release:
* Adds WebP support to PNG MNG Construction Set — which changes
everything.
PNG MNG Construction Set can open and save WebP graphics and
animations. Because WebP files can be used directly in web pages
and other on-line media, you can now create web animations with
full 24-bit color, millisecond timing and true alpha
transparency, transcending the limitations of traditional GIF
animations.
It also supports both lossless and user-definable lossy
compression — the latter being comparable to what JPEG does — to
allow you to squeeze your animations into very small files if
you need to.
You can add WebP files to your web pages using the same coding
as would be used for GIF animations.
In that the user interface and functionality of PNG MNG
Construction Set is pretty much identical to that of GIF
Construction Set, current users of GIF Construction Set can be
up to speed with the state of the art in web page animation in
substantially less time than it's taken you to read this.
WebP animations totally blew us away when we started using them
— you need to experience them as well.

(To reduce unnecessary wear on the Help buttons in PNG MNG
Construction Set — and more to the point, to save you digging
through its manual — we hasten to note that you can create WebP
documents from your new or existing MNG animations by selecting
Save As from the File menu, and then Selecting WebP as the file
type in the Save As window that opens.)
* Adds WebP still image support to Animation Wizard, and various
other functions in PNG MNG Construction Set that open still
graphics.
* Adds *optional paint applications* to the Paint buttons in PNG
MNG Construction Set. Hold down the Ctrl key when you click on a
Paint button to have your graphic opened in Alpha Paint if it
has alpha transparency, or in e-Paint or the Graphic Workshop
e-Paint UltraLight if it doesn't. See the discussion of Paint in
the Reference document of PNG MNG Construction Set's manual for
more about this feature. It's all in the second blue box.
We hasten to add that Alpha Paint may misbehave in this capacity
under some versions of Windows — it's fixed in the next release
of Alpha Paint.
