1. PNG MNG Construction Set Professional 5 Revision 6

PNG MNG Construction Set Professional 5 has been updated. This release:
- Adds a Watermark feature. If you're creating web pages for a client,
you can watermark your animations to discourage your designs from
going for a walk before you get paid. See the Watermark item in the
Chunk menu.
- Addresses a number of issues in the Text Overlay feature.
- Addresses a potential security issue. We seriously urge all users
of PNG MNG Construction Set to update to this release.
- Improves the image management logic of Animation Wizard to enhance
its performance.
- Addresses some memory management issues in the Overlay and Underlay
logic to make these features quicker on slow or unusually busy
systems.
- Addresses a number of GDI and performance issues that software
developers never really stop meddling with.
- Updates the documentation.

3. Graphic Workshop Professional 5 Revision 7 (Additional Notification)

Graphic Workshop Professional 5 has been updated. This release:
- Adds a recent folder pane to the Move and Copy window, so you can
quickly return to your frequently used destinations without having
to manually navigate to them. We hasten to add that you can change
the number of recent folders in Setup, or disable this feature
entirely if you decide that you'd rather keep your mouse guessing.
See the discussion of the Move and Copy function in the Reference
document of Graphic Workshop's manual for more about this option.
- Adds a recent folder pane to the Destination window, which does
pretty much the same stuff as the one in the Move and Copy window,
above. It's discussed in the section of the Reference document
that deals with Destination.
- Adds an Explorer-like quick rename function to Graphic Workshop's
browser windows. In addition to the renaming tools in the tool bar
and the right-click menu, you can click and hold on the text area
of a browser item to open an edit field and type in a new file name.
- Improves the Position Only filter, with more options and nicer
graphics.
- Adds a Prepress filter, to surround your pictures with the arcane
regalia of commercial printing. For the most part, it's useful if
you feel your pictures would benefit from an industrial post-modern
vibe.
- Creates Windows desktop shortcuts for some of Graphic Workshop's
ancillary applications, such as e-Paint UltraLight, Camera screen
capture and Montage.
- Fixes a cosmetic bug in the Search mode's file destination window.
- Fixes a cosmetic bug in the File Open function of Montage.
- Fixes a bug in the Matt and Frame function that could cause some
frames to be incompletely filled with fractal textures.
- Fixes a truly epic bug in e-Paint UltraLight that mangled most of
its drawing tools under some builds of Windows. That was
embarrassing.
- Addresses a potential security issue. We seriously urge all users
of Graphic Workshop to update to this release.
- Addresses a number of GDI and performance issues that software
developers never really stop meddling with.
- Updates the documentation.

4. Graphic Workshop Ancillary Applications (Second Notification)
_______________________________________________________________________
Graphic Workshop installs with a number of ancillary applications to
enhance its functionality – and it has done so for well over a quarter
of a century.
We have of late come to appreciate that a significant number of the
users of Graphic Workshop have remained unaware that these extra
applications existed, and were waiting patiently to be clicked on. To
this end, the most recent release of Graphic Workshop Professional
added desktop shortcuts for the extra programs.
We've heard back from a few users who were confused by the appearance
of these additional icons. Some of them suspected that we'd been lured
to the dark side, and had coerced Graphic Workshop into installing
unwanted software without permission.
We'd like to take this opportunity to apologize for any confusion these
additional shortcuts have caused. Graphic Workshop hasn't installed
anything it hasn't been providing all along – it’s just made these
extra programs easier to access.
The additional applications installed with Graphic Workshop are:
- GWS Camera Screen Capture: Capture all or part of a Windows screen to
image files.
- GWS e-Paint UltraLight: Refine your photographs or create original
art with this simplified edition of Alchemy Mindworks' e-Paint
digital darkroom and drawing application.
- GWS GIF Animator: A simplified version of Alchemy Mindworks' popular
GIF Construction Set Professional.
- GWS Montage Builder UltraLight: Combine your digital photographs and
other graphics into picture montages that can be printed and exported
to single-image graphics, such as JPG and PNG files.
- GWS Resource Extractor Easily locate and extract icons, bitmaps,
sounds and other resources from Windows executables and DLL libraries.
- GWS Rotator: Have your Windows wallpaper or your screen savers
automatically changed each morning.
Needless to say, if you've registered Graphic Workshop, you'll also have
complete access to these ancillary programs. There's more about them
in the Reference document of Graphic Workshop Professional's manual.
In the event that you don't want to have shortcuts on your desktop for
these extra applications, you can click on each one you'd like to see
gone and hit Del on your keyboard. You'll be prompted to confirm
removing the shortcut in question. The actual software will still be
available through the Windows Start -> Programs (or All Programs) ->
Alchemy Mindworks -> Graphic Workshop Professional 5 menu.
We're looking at making the additional shortcuts an install option for
the next update.
