        Announcing e-Paint 9

e-Paint 9 has been released. We've further refined its architecture
to make it more memory-efficient, and to better utilize the
resources available under Windows 10. (We hasten to add that it
still performs admirably under earlier builds of Windows, all the
way back to Windows XP, if you're feeling retro.)

Among the new features and enhancements to e-Paint 9, you'll find
    that it:

      * Adds*interactive resizing* — select an area of a picture open in
e-Paint using the Rectangle Section tool, and you can grab and
drag the edges of the selection marquee to resize it. While most
of the interactive resize tools we've encountered have done some
serious damage to the images they were confronted with over
multiple adjustments, the one in e-Paint is diabolically sneaky,
and does a superb job of maintaining the quality of resized
image fragments. We hasten to add that e-Paint 9's updated
internal architecture has made this one possible.

      * Updates all the *image import* libraries to improve their
performance and to deal with more weird-beard PNG and JPG files.
        They're out there, lurking...

      * Adds a *Photo Fine-tune* filter. Adjust your pictures to enjoy
flawless exposure and lighting... even if you took them under
adverse circumstances that would have sent photographers of an
earlier epoch into a permanent coma.

      * Adds a *Shards* filter. Apply some profoundly extreme special
effects to your graphics using this leading-edge bit of CGI.
        Channel your inner extraterrestrial.

      * Adds a *Lens Correction* filter to unbend the walls, roads and
other straight lines in wide-angle photographs.

      * Enhances the copyright of your photography — adds the option of
*watermarking* your photographs with *graphics* as well as text
through the filter Watermark function. The graphic watermark
functionality supports alpha transparency, so you can arrange
for fancy text and logos, translucent watermarks and innumerable
        other effects.

      * Improves the logic for the application status bar so
e-Paint9doesn't go into vapor lock during long processes.

      * Adjusts the *memory footprint* of e-Paint9. This allows it to
better get along with Windows' memory management logic, load a
bit quicker and run more effectively and reliably, especially if
it finds itself on a system that's a bit short of memory.

      * Enhances the sneakiness of the *validation logic* to further
reduce the likelihood of e-Paint9un-registering itself and
thereafter deciding that its key is already in use because
Windows 10 has silently updated something. Hopefully this one
nails the problem until the end of time.

      * Addresses a number of GDI and performance issues that software
developers never really stop meddling with.

      * Updates the documentation.

As in years past, when you run e-Paint 9 for the first time, it will
look for a previous installation of e-Paint 8 and optionally *copy
your existing configuration*, so you won't have to set everything up
    by hand.

Click on the blue button to download e-Paint9.

          Upgrades

If you have registered or upgraded a registration for e-Paint8 on or
    after June 1, 2018, you're welcome to a *no-cost upgrade* to e-Paint9.

If you have registered or upgraded a registration for e-Paint8 prior
to June 1, 2018, we invite you to upgrade to e-Paint9 for *half the
    current new-user price*.

Graphic Workshop Professional 9 Revision 4

Graphic Workshop Professional 9 has been updated. This release:

      * Adds a *Photo Fine-tune* filter. Adjust your pictures to enjoy
flawless exposure and lighting... even if you took them under
adverse circumstances that would have sent photographers of an
earlier epoch into a permanent coma.

      * Adds a *Shards* filter. Apply some profoundly weird special
effects to your graphics using this leading-edge bit of CGI.
        Channel your inner extraterrestrial.

      * Adds a *Lens Correction* filter to unbend the walls, roads and
other straight lines in wide-angle photographs.

      * Adds an optimized view mode for the *Crop* window to better size
your pictures for the available screen real-estate. Please see
the discussion of display modes in the section of the Reference
document for Graphic Workshop that deals with Crop. Note that
you can revert to the earlier Exact display mode if you turn out
        to prefer it.

      * Adds an option in Graphic Workshop's browser windows to display
the *file type* of each graphic therein in their thumbnails.
This can be helpful if you like long file names and you store
your pictures in various formats. Select Thumbnails → Show File
Extensions from the browser right-click menu to toggle this feature.

      * Adds a 12-percent zoom option to the *Filters* window, to allow
even honking big mega-pixel images to be viewed in their entirety.

      * Updates the *JPG and PNG* image libraries for Graphic Workshop
to address several potential security issues.

Announcing Pagan Daybook 9 (additional notification)

Pagan Daybook 9 has been released. We've further refined its
architecture to make it more memory-efficient, and to better utilize
the resources available under Windows 10. (We hasten to add that it
still performs admirably under earlier builds of Windows, all the
way back to Windows XP, if you're feeling retro.)

Among the new features and enhancements to Pagan Daybook 9, you'll
    find that it:

      * Adds a *Transitions* mode to the screen saver background
selections. Transitions serves to keep Pagan Daybook's screen
savers from getting old by changing their backgrounds every few
minutes. You can configure which backgrounds are included in its
rotation, and how long it should sleep between switches. See the
Select Screen Savers item of the right-click menu.

      * Adds a selection of new screen saver background graphics,
including the graphics from The Ultimate Screen Clock. This
being the case, you'll find a few unexpected ones, such as the
redoubtable Steampunk random plumbing background. Use the ones
that work for you... just don't let yourself follow the
        aforementioned plumbing.

      * Updates all the*image import libraries* to improve their
performance and to deal with more weird-beard PNG and JPG files.
        They're out there, lurking...

      * Adjusts the *memory footprint* of Pagan Daybook. This allows it
to better get along with Windows' memory management logic, load
a bit quicker and run more effectively and reliably, especially
if it finds itself on a system that's a bit short of memory.

thereafter deciding that its key is already in use because
Windows 10 has silently updated something. Hopefully this one
nails the problem until the end of time.

      * Improves the*texture engine*. It's a ceaseless quest...

      * Addresses a number of GDI and performance issues that software
developers never really stop meddling with.

      * Updates the documentation.

As in years past, when you run Pagan Daybook 9 for the first time,

The Order by Steven William Rimmer is Back in Print

    <http://www.stevenwilliamrimmer.com/theorder.html>Steven William
Rimmer's legendary novel of power, madness, secret societies and
weird bits of alchemy is now available through Amazon's
    print-on-demand book service.

Newly revised and printed on high-end paper with eye-friendly large
type, The Order is ready to outage readers who'd scarcely been born
    when it was originally written.

The Amazon print edition is unabridged and undoes all manner of
iniquities wrought upon the earlier small-press versions of The Order.

It also has a really cool cover that the thumbnail graphic here
doesn't begin to do justice to.

Should you not have encountered this technology previously,
print-on-demand does pretty much what it says on the box. When you
order a copy of The Order through Amazon, a digital press will print
    one book, just for you.

Remarkably, the production quality of print-on-demand books is if
anything better than that of commercial mass-market fiction. In
addition, your book will have been manufactured a few days before
you receive it, rather than having been stored for months in a
    warehouse in Duluth.

Because these books are sold through Amazon, you can enjoy free
shipping with a Prime account, or if you buy enough other stuff to
    reach your free shipping threshold.

Finally, print-on-demand means pretty much zero waste. Every copy of
The Order that gets printed will actually be sold. By comparison,
traditional publishing could see three quarters of the books that
were manufactured ultimately being "remaindered" and destroyed.

Please click on this big blue button:

        <http://www.stevenwilliamrimmer.com/theorder.html>

The Order is also available in a newly-revised Amazon Kindle e-book
edition — same big blue button.
