Screen Saver Construction Set 9 Revision 2

Screen Saver Construction Set 9 has been updated. This release:

      * Updates the *JPEG functionality* in Screen Saver Construction
Set to be blindingly, shockingly fast... and possibly violate a
        few laws of physics.

The new JPEG reader addresses a number of potential security
holes which could have allowed a maliciously-crafted JPG file to
execute arbitrary code and compromise a computer running Screen
        Saver Construction Set.

We urge everyone running Screen Saver Construction Set to update
to this release really, really soon.

      * Updates the Screen Saver Construction Set *image handling
libraries* with our new anti-tampering logic.

      * Extends Screen Saver Construction Set's *Remote C**o**ntent*
objects — now include server-based sounds in your presentations.
You can build WAV, MP3 andMIDI objects into your presentation
pages that are fetched from your server, rather than stored in
your presentation documents. As such, you can change the content
of your presentations after they've been distributed. If it were
any cooler, it would be measured in degrees Kelvin.

      * Fixes several bugs in the original *Remote Content*
functionality that could leak memory under certain builds of
        Windows.

      * Updates the *page refresh* logic of Screen Saver Construction
Set's run time to make it quicker.

      * Fixes a bug in the aforementioned Screen Saver Construction Set
runtime that could see *Image objects with alpha transparency*
drawn twice when a page refreshed, which caused translucent
elements, such as shadows, to appear darker than they should have.

      * Cleans up a number of *user interface* issues throughout the
        application.

      * Updates the *PNG readers and writers* in Screen Saver
Construction Set to address some security issues. We strongly
urge all users of The Ultimate Screen Clock to update to this
version to close these potential security holes.

      * Addresses a number of *GDI and performance issues* that software
developers never really stop meddling with.

      * Updates the *documentation*.

Announcing Presentation Wizard 9Revision 2 (second notification)

Presentation Wizard 9 has been Updated. This release:

      * Extends Presentation Wizard's *Remote C**o**ntent* objects — now
include server-based sounds in your presentations. You can build
WAV, MP3 and MIDI objects into your presentation pages that are
fetched from your server, rather than stored in your
presentation documents. As such, you can change the content of
your presentations after they've been distributed. If it were
any cooler, it would be measured in degrees Kelvin.

      * Fixes several bugs in the original *Remote Content*
functionality that could leak memory under certain builds of
        Windows.

      * Updates the *page refresh* logic of Presentation Wizard's run
        time to make it quicker.

      * Fixes a bug in the aforementioned Presentation Wizard runtime
that could see *Image objects with alpha transparency* drawn
twice when a page refreshed, which caused translucent elements,
such as shadows, to appear darker than they should have.

      * Cleans up a number of *user interface* issues throughout the
        application.

      * Updates the *PNG readers and writers* in Presentation Wizard to
address some security issues. We strongly urge all users of The
Ultimate Screen Clock to update to this version to close these
        potential security holes.

      * Addresses a number of *GDI and performance issues* that software
developers never really stop meddling with.

The Ultimate Screen Clock 9 Revision 3(second notification)

The Ultimate Screen Clock 9 has been updated. This release:

      * Corrects the *document path* where The Ultimate Screen Clock
looks for style overrides, user-created clocks and other
ancillary items. It was previously set to My Documents/My Screen
Clocks — sadly, a non-existent folder as far as the software was
concerned, rather than My Documents/My Screen Clocks 9 , as it
        is now.

     From last weekend's release:

      * Adds the *Radio* *clock style*, examples of which are
illustrated here. The small graphics don't really do this one
        justice.

Harkening back to a fanciful past — which is way more fun than a
dystopian present — the Radio style is available in three sizes,
with and without a bezel, and in animated versions in which its
digits cycle, just like back when a personal computer was about
the size of an Amazon warehouse.

You might want to stand well back from your monitor if you
select one of the Huge style options.

Note that you'll need to download and install the extra styles
library for The Ultimate Screen Clock to access all the Radio
        style options.

      * Updates the *Select Style window* to generate list graphics in
the background, to minimize the delay as you initially scroll
through the available clocks. The Select Style windows are a lot
more responsive now, and way easier to use. There's a complete
discussion of this functionality in the section of the Reference
document that deals with selecting styles, and we hasten to
mention that it can be disabled if you don't like it as much as
        we did.

      * Updates the *PNG readers and writers* in The Ultimate Screen
Clock to address some security issues. We strongly urge all
users of The Ultimate Screen Clock to update to this version to
        close these potential security holes.

      * Addresses some potential timing issues in the*Net Time*
        functionality.

      * Improves the *clock rendering engine*.

      * Addresses a number of*GDI and performance issues* that software
developers never really stop meddling with.

      * Updates the *documentation*.

Graphic Workshop Professional 9 Revision 8(additional notification)

Graphic Workshop Professional 9 has been updated. This release:

      * Fixes a bug in the *Favorites* window that could prevent it from
creating new Favorites galleries under some configurations of
Windows. It was admittedly, an obscure bug, but we chortled when
        it finally became demised.

      * Further improves the performance of the new *View window* update
        logic.

      * Fixes an embarrassing typo in the View mode closing save file
        prompt.

     From last weekend's release:

      * Rewrites the *View mode screen update logic*. It's now
shockingly quick. It also has an Optimum Size mode that will
display your pictures to completely fill the view window, rather
than selecting the nearest integral zoom factor. We hasten to
add that you can select Optimum Size as the default zoom level
in Setup, and you can use the View mode Configure window to set
your middle mouse button or mouse wheel to toggle between
        Optimum Size and 100% zoom.

Because of the warped structure of the universe, we're fairly
certain that there exists at least one computer... somewhere...
that won't entirely get along with the improved screen update
functionality. As such, you'll see a message the first time you
open a picture in View to the effect that it can be reverted to
the original banded screen update functionality. Unselect the
Show Me This Message Again option to avoid seeing it in the future.

      * Rewrites the *thumbnail *read functionality to make Graphic
Workshop's browser windows populate in less time... 'specially
under Windows 10, which is  bit lackadaisical about such things.

      * Fixes a truly pernicious bug in the *View mode Filter window*
and the batch mode and right-click Filter windows which could
leak resources and crash things. We urge all users of Graphic
Workshop to update to this version and nail this insidious
little beast before it nails you.

      * Fixes pretty much the same pernicious bug in the *Textures and
        Fractals window*.

      * Adds the ability to remove permanent thumbnails from items in
the *Search* window. Hold down the Ctrl key and click on the
        thumbnail button.

      * Changes the behavior of the *Add Permanent Thumbnails* function
of the Search window — hold down the Alt key and click on the
Thumbnail button. The previous behavior, which used the Shift
key, could enable the face detection feature of the thumbnail
generator if you didn't release the Shift key quickly enough.

      * Updates the documentation.

      * Addresses a number of GDI and performance issues that software
developers never really stop meddling with.
